The Joint #001 — Opening The Door (Why This Exists)
The Joint #001 — Opening The Door (Why The Joint Exists)
Most people wait until they feel ready to speak. That usually means they never do.
This exists because pretending to have answers is a great way to avoid learning. We are all guilty of this. Once you decide you’re an authority, curiosity dies quickly. You start protecting a position instead of testing ideas. Pressure exposes all of this immediately. Be Curious George. Operate as if you know nothing and question the reason WHY. Life is better that way.
I’m writing this in public because pressure sharpens everything. Having to write out my thoughts keeps me accountable. When something is visible, it has consequences. You can’t quietly abandon it without noticing. You either show up again next week, or you don’t. That is the point.
Training works the same way. You don’t simply improve by announcing your goals or posting highlights. You improve by putting yourself in situations where your gaps show up repeatedly. And that's why I record and post my rolls. When rolling the mats don't care care about your self-image. It doesn’t negotiate. It just exposes what’s there. I get my ass beat all the time in training. That is why I feel alright posting when I feel I did well. Sometimes the highlight reels look better when you're on the other end of them. The more you push yourself into those likely to fail situations the better off you'll be. No matter what you're doing.
This isn't a manifesto. It’s a logbook. Some weeks will be clean and useful. Some will be messy and useless. Either way I'm getting thoughts out. And you should be looking to do the same. For me learning in public just means I accept that clarity comes after repetition, not before it. We are all dumb until we know to ask why.
If you’re looking for the answers to solving Life itself, this will disappoint you. If you’re interested in watching me test ideas to build something new from scratch, welcome to
